This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Messrs. C. Gordon and
C. Amato of this office on September 22 - 23, 1986 and October 15 - 17, 1986
at your Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 1, Middletown, Pennsylvania.
Discussions of our findings were held by Mr. Gordon with you and other members
of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the NRC Region I
Inspection Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the
inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative
records, interviews with personnel, and an evaluation of the GPU Nuclear
Corporation Corporate Emergency Plan.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed.
No reply to this letter is required. Your cooperation with us in this matter
is appreciated.
