-g 00T 011996 Docket No. 50-244 Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation ATTN: Mr. Roger W. Kober Vice President Electric and Steam Production 49 East Avenue s
Rochester, New York 14649 Gentlemen:
Subject:
Fire Protection Safe Shutdown Inspection - Ginna Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 1 This letter is to inform you of our plans to conduct an NRC special announced team inspection on October _ 20 - 24, 1986 of your facility with regard to the ability to provide safe shutdown in the event of a fire.
To effectively conduct the inspection, we request that analyses, procedures and other documentation on this subject, be available at the site during the inspection.
If possible, engineering personnel knowledgeable of your efforts in this area should also be available. In addition, we are requesting that one set of such documentation be made available to the team at the Region I office of the NRC in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, before October 6, 1986. We previously discussed this information request with your staff and we have made arrange-ments to have this information delivered to NRC.
Your staff has indicated that a work location for the team in an area with easy access to the plant drawing files has been arranged. Additionally, we under-stand that personnel escorts will be available to allow team members ready access to all areas of the plant. We request that you specify a member of your staff as a primary point of contact for the team to meet with at the end of each day to discuss any findings the team may have and to receive requests for additional information required to resolve any open issues.
Your cooperation with us during this inspection is greatly appreciated. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (215) 337-5283.
