an Early Emergency Responders Workshop-on. February 4-5, 1987, in-Chicago, Illinois.-' Preceding the Workshop, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on February-3, 1987, e FEMA Region V REP Conference'will be held.
Further information-regarding the REP Conference'will be provided to you by FEMA in separate correspondence.
The Early Emergency Responders Workshop, described in Enclosure 1, will bring together representatives of the States, the Department of Energy (DOE), the
- Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) with representatives of nuclear power plants and other major licensees in NRC Region III. The purpose
.of the Workshop is to discuss lessons learned and current problems in the coordination and integration of emergency response efforts. Through the Workshop, we hope to promote a better. understanding of'our respective roles and coordination between responding organizations.
We invite you and your senior emergency response personnel to attend. We request that you limit the number of attendees at the Workshop to five. To aid us in estimating the number of attendees and making other necessary arrangements, please complete the Pre-registration ' Form (Enclosure 2) and return it by December 29, 1986.
A major part of the workshop will be devoted to emergency response from the' licensee perspective. We ask that you identify on the attached i
Pre-registration Form any specific issues you believe should be covered during the Workshop.
The Workshop will be held at the Chicago Marriott O' Hare, 8535 West Higgins Road, Chicago, Illinois.
It is tentatively scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. on February 4 and end at 4:00 p.m. on February 5.
