SUBJECT:
EQUIPMENT QUALIFICATION INSPECTION - PALISADES NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT This letter confirms the dates of December 8-12, 1986, for the NRC Environmental Qualification (EQ)Inspectionofelectricalandinstrumentationequipment,at the Palisades Nuclear Generating Plant. These dates were established during a November 26, 1986, telephone conversation between Mr. K. Toner of your staff and Mr. A. S. Gautam of my staff. The inspection will be performed by a six member inspection team with Mr. A. S. Gautam of the Region III office as lead inspector.
The following areas will be inspected:
1.
Implementation of corrective action consnitments addressed in the final Palisades EQ Safety Evaluation Report.
2.
Compliance to EQ regulations of 10 CFR 50.49, ir.cluding Program Procedures, Master Equipment List. Maintenance, Procurement, Upgrading of Replacement Equipment, Quality Assurance and Employee Training.
3.
Adequacy of equipment qualification files, including responses to relevant NRC Information Notices and Bulletins.
4.
Installation and maintenance of selected plant EQ equipment.
A management entrance meeting is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on December 8,1986 at the plant site. A plant walkdown inspection of selected EQ equipment is scheduled for December 10, 1986 and an NRC exit meeting is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on December 12, 1986.
To facilitate NRC preparation for this inspection, Mr. K. Toner of your staff has been requested to submit the following Palisades EQ documents by December 1, 1986.
