SUMMARY
OF MEETING HELD ON MAY 5, 1987, BETWEEN NRC AND APCo REPRESENTATIVES TO DISCUSS PLANNED SAFEGUARDS MODIFICATIONS AT THE FARLEY SITE.
Introduction The NRC Project Manager (E. Reeves) reviewed the purpose of the meeting and noted that the meeting is closed to the public because Safeguards Information was to be discussed. This action is in accordance with 10 CFR 73.21. A list of attendees is attached.
Discussion R. Erickson, Chief, Safeguards Branch, NRR, reviewed recent organizational changes at NRC as it affects the Safeguards Area. J. Garlington (APCo spokesperson) reviewed the approach that the licensee took to resolve the Regulatory Effectiveness Review (RER) team findings described by NRC letter dated August 28, 1986. These findings are based on the February 1986 site audit by the RER team.
J. Sims (APCo) then reviewed APCo's latest response, included in a letter dated May 4, 1987, reviewing APCo's earlier letter dated October 13, 1986.
On the basis of this meeting and the APCo letter dated May 4, 1987, the NRC staff agreed to perform an expedited review of APCo's request to support an early start of site modifications as discussed.
