SUMMARY

OF UNIT 1 OPERATING EXPERIENCE AUGUST 1986 8/1 Unit 1 began this reporting period at full reactor power (825 MWe).

8/3 At 0815, Unit 1 began reducing power to 680 MWe for Condenser Water Box cleaning.

4 8/3 At 2030, Unit 1 returned to full power (825 MWe).

8/6 At 2115,, Unit 1 began reducing power to 630 MWe for Condenser Water Box cleaning.

8/7 At 0700, Unit 1 returned to full power (825 MWe).

8/11 At 2235, Unit 1 began reducing power to 690 MWe to clean

. Condenser Water Boxes.

8/12 At 0650, Unit 1 returned to full reactor power (825 MWe).

8/12 At 2200, Unit 1 began reducing power to'700 MWe to clean Condenser Water Boxes.

8/15 At 0330, Unit 1 returned to full reactor power (825 MWe).

SUMMARY

OF UNIT 2 OPERATING EXPERIENCE AUGUST 1986 8/1 Unit 2 was shutdown at the start of this reporting period because of suspected excessive vibration of 21A Reactor Coolant Pump.

8/1 At 0500, Unit 2 was critical.

8/1 At 2043, the Unit was paralleled.

Subsequent power ramp up was slowed because of poor water chemistry.

8/2 At 0700, reactor power was held at 682 MWe so STP-M-213-2 could be performed.

8/2 At 2100, the Unit was returned to full power 825 MWe, 8/21 At 1740, reactor power was reduced to 750 MWe because of a failure of Screen Wash Header piping.

8/22 At 0200, Unit 2 returned to full power 825 MWe.

8/31 At 1125, reactor power was reduced to 785 MWe because of a damaged guide bearing on 24 Circulating Water Pump.

8/31 The Unit was at 95% reactor power (800 MWe) at the end of this reporting period.

September 4,1986 REFUELING INFORMATION REQUEST 1.

Name of Facility: Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, Unit No.1 2.

Scheduled date for next Refueling Shutdown: October 25,1986 3.

Scheduled date for restart following refueling: January 4,1987 4.

Will refueling or resumption of operation thereafter require a technical specification change or other license amendment?

Resumption of operation after refueling will require changes to Technical Specifications. The changes will be such as to allow operation of the plant with a fresh reload batch and reshuffled core.

5.

Scheduled date(s) for submitting proposed licensing action and supporting information.

September 29,1986 6.

Important licensing considerations associated with the refueling.

Reload fuel will be similar to that reload fuel inserted into the previous cycle.

7.

The number of fuel assemblies (a) in the core and (b) in the spent fuel storage pool.

(a) 217 (b) 998*

Spent Fuel Pools are common to Units 1 and 2 8.

(a) The present licensed spent fuel pool stornge capacity, and (b) the size of any increase in licensed storage capacity that has been requested or is planned, in number of fuel assemblies.

(a) 1830 (b)0 9.

The projected date of the last refueling that can be discharged to the Spent Fuel Pool assuming the present licensed capacity and maintaining space for one full core off load.
