VIRGINIA ELECTRIC AND POWER COMPANY NORTH ANNA POWER STATION UNITS 1 AND 2 IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE FOR MISCELLANEOUS AMENDHENTS CONCERNINC PHYSICAL PROTECTION OF NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS A final rule amending 10 CFR 50 and 73 entitled, " Miscellaneous Amendments Concerning Physical Protection of Nuclear Power Plants," was issued on July 29, 1986.

The rule required each licensee to submit proposed amendments to its security plan defining how the amended requirements will be met and a proposed implementation schedule for NRC approval. The rule further required the amended safeguards requirements to be implemented within 180 days after Commission approval of the proposed security plan.

Virginia Electric and Power Company submitted its proposed amendments to the North Anna Power Station Security Plan and a proposed implementation schedule in our letter dated December 11, 1986. The proposed amendments are awaiting Commission approval. The purpose of this letter is to revise our proposed implementation schedule regarding the requirement in 10 CFR 73.55(e)(1) to locate the on-site secondary power supply systems for jalarm annunciator equipment, etc. within vital areas.

We originally committed to implement changes associated with this requirement by June 1, 1987. We are revising our commitment to agree with the scheduler requirement in the final rule, and will complete the required changes associated with the requirements of 10 CFR 73.55(e)(1) within 180 days af ter Con: mission approval of the amended physical security plan.
