Plans for the V. C. Sumer Nuclear Power Plant Attached is a copy of the Exercise Report for the February 4, 1987, partial participation joint exercise of the offaite REP plans for the V. C. Sumer Nuclear Power Plant. Se V. C. Sumer Nuclear Power Plant is located in Fairfield County approximately 30 miles north of Columbia, South Carolina, at the southern end of the Monticello Reservoir.

! Fairfield, Icxington, Newberry, and Richland Counties, all located in the 10-mile plume emergency planning zone, fully participated in this exercise and the State of South Carolina partially participated.

The exercise report, dated April 1, 1987, was prepared by the Region IV staff of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). We report does not identify any deficiencies resulting from this exercise. There were j identified, however, six areas requirity corrective actions and several areas recomended for improvemnt. FENA Region IV staff will furnish a copy of this exercise report to the State of South Carolina and will obtain a schedule of corrective actions. Region IV will assure completion by the 3 State of the necessary corrective actions.

!l Based upon the results of this exercise, there continues to be reasonable assurance that apprcpriate protective masures can be implemented by the offsite jurisdictions around the V. C. Sumer Nuclear Power Plant to protect the health arti safety of the public in the event of a radiological emergency.

%erefore, the 44 CFR 350 approval granted by FEMA on November 13, 1981,

will remain in effect.
