Gentlemen:
This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Messrs. D. E. Miller
and W. J. Slawinski of this office on August 11-15, 1986, of activities at
Zion Nuclear Power Station authorized by NRC Operating Licenses No. DPR-39 and
No. DPR-48 and at Zion Emergency Offsite Facility under Byproduct Materials
License No. 12-05650-19, and to the discussion of our findings with
Mr. T. Rieck and other onsite staff members at the conclusion of the
inspection, and with Mr. G. Plim1 by telephone on August 20, 1986.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during
the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective
examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and
interviews with personnel.
No violations of NRC r'quirements were identified during the course of this
inspection.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of
this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC
Public Document Room.
