GENERIC LETTER 83-28 REGARDING ANTICIPATED TRANSIENT WITHOUT SCRAM (ATWS), ITEM 2.1, EQUIPMENT CLASSIFICATION AND VENDOR INTERFACE By letters dated November 8,1983 and May 9,1985, you responded to Generic Letter 83-28 (GL 83-28). The enclosed Safety Evaluation documents our concurrence with the contractor's findings and our acceptance of your response relating to what we have identified as Item 2.1 (Part 1), " Equipment Transient Without Screm (ATWS) ystem Components).

Classification" (Reactor Trip S We consider the Anticipated portion of GL 83-28, Item 2.1 (Part 1), to be closed by this action.

However, we request additional information to complete our evaluation of GL 83-28, Item 2.1 (Part 2), " Vendor Interface." You have identified the General Electric Company (GE) as the nuclear steam supply system (NSSS) vendcr. Please document the method for assuring that NNECO receives all maintenance and technical infomation sent out by GE in the role of NSSS.

This request has been discussed with your NNECO representative during several recent telephone conversations.

We have agreed that a 60 day response to this request is reasonable.

The reporting and/or recordkeeping requirements contained in this letter affect fewer than ten respondents; therefore, OMB clearance is not required under P.L.96-511.
