This refers to the inspection conducted by K. R. Naidu of this office on October 6-8, 1986, of your facility Edinburgh, Scotland and to the discussions of our findings with you and members of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
The purpose of this inspection was to verify the implementation of your quality assurance program in areas relative to the manufacture of a spare electrical generator which was originally designed and manufactured by Electrical Products Incorporated located in Cleveland, Ohio, and supplied to the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant. Areas examined during the inspection and our findings are discussed
.in the enclosed report. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of an examination of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.
The inspection identified a weakr.ess in the identification of materials supplied
'to you by your subsidiary in Cleveland, Ohio, which would have resulted in difficulties in providing traceability of the materials to their respective certification. We understand that you took immediate corrective action to resolve this matter.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.
