TR ERANCIIES INVOLVED: Principally Auxiliary & Power Conversion Syster.s Branch with input from Sitr Analysis Branch (Ilydrology) and Quality Assurance Branch At the post-Construction Pernit meeting held October 17-18, 1973, the applicant comnitted to provide information on the design margin of the ultimate heat sink in the event of spray header failure. The summary of that neeting states:

"The applicant stated that they were having problems with the desir;n of the spray headers for the ultimate heat sink pond in that they were not protected against missile damage. The applicant will submit information on the design margin of the ultimate heat sinh in the event of spray header failure due to tornado caused missile damage and on the QA cotwitment for the makeup water systen during January 1974."

A determination by the staff of the adequacy of WPPSS's submission is required. Copies of this submission, dated 3/2/74, are available from Central Files under Docket 50-397. This submission by WPPSS is not one of the items required by the SER, but is a response to a post-CP request ende by the staff as a result of discussions at the October meeting.
