The NRC Region I SALP Board has reviewed and evaluated the performance of
activities at the Indian Point Station - Unit 2 for the period August 1, 1985
through July 31, 1986. The results of this assessment are documented in the
enclosed SALP Board report. A meeting to discuss the assessment has been
scheduled for November 21, 1986 at the Indian Point Sta- on, Buchanan, New
York.
At the SALP meeting, you should be prepared to discuss this assessment and
your plans to improve those areas that appear to need more management attention.
In particular, you should plan on discussing the following topics:
(1) reactor
trip reduction efforts, (2) the need for proper and expeditious simulator up-
grading and re-emphasis of training on normal plant evolutions, and (3)
outstanding maintenance activities. The meeting is intended to be a candid
dialogue wherein any comments you may have regarding our report may be
discussed. Additionally, you may provide written comments within 20 days after
the meeting.
