SUMMARY
- V0GTLE FACILITY - DOCKET NO. 50-424 This refers to the management meeting conducted at your request in the NRC Region II Office on January 17, 1986. This meeting was held to brief the NRC on the Vogtle Readiness Review Appendices entitled " Document Control" and " Material Cortrol."
It is our opinion that this meeting was beneficial and provided a better under-standing of the Vogtle Readiness Review Program and, specifically, the appendices presented.
This in-depth presentation will better enable the NRC to conduct its evaluation of these documents.
Af ter consideration of the data you provided, we have determined that your presentation was responsive to the issues and findings we disclosed to you during our on-site inspection the week of January 6-10, 1986.
However, as agreed during this meeting, we request a supplemental submittal on Appendix E which addresses the findings we discussed. Your timely response to this request will facilitate our appendix review completion.
In accordance with Section 2.790 of NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and its enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
Should you have any questions concerning these matters, we will be pleased to discuss them.

SUMMARY
OF ISSUES DISCUSSED Appendix E, Material Control, contains apparent errors relating to categorization of previously identified NRC and Georgia Power Company (GPC) findings which were used to form the basis for the adequacy of the appendix.
Appendix E contains apparent errors relating to the appendix scope; content (including structural steel); categorization of findings for both Appendix E and Appendix D, Document Control; inclusion of ANSI standard requirements; and accuracy of data presented related to audits, findings, and equipment maintenance.
Appendix E apparently did not address historical program effectiveness.
Also discussed were two apparent violations related to material control.
All of the above issues are documented in Inspection Report 50-424/85-62.
Georgia Power Company (GPC) presented information relative to their review of NRC and GPC finding classifications and agreed that minor modifications may be needed in this area.
GPC was responsive to the NRC issues discussed and agreed to evaluate these issues.
GPC also agreed to factor these issues into a supplemental response to Appendix E.
