EQUIPMENT QUALIFICATION INSPECTION - QUAD CITIES, UNITS 1 AND 2 NUCLEAR GENERATlhG STATIONS This letter confirms the dates of December 8-12, 1986, for the NRC Environmental Qualification (EQ) Inspection of electrical and instrunentation equipment, at the Quad Cities Nuclear Generating Stations, Units 1 and 2. These dates were established during a November 6, 1986, telephone conversation between Ms. Irene Johnson of your staff and Mr. A. S. Gautam of my staff. The inspection will be perforned by a six member inspection team with Mr. A. S. Gautam of the Region III office as lead inspector.
The following areas will be inspected:
- 1. Implementation of corrective action conmitments addressed in the final Quad Cities EQ Safety Evaluation Report.
- 2. Compliance to EQ regulations of 10 CFR 50.49, including Program Procedures, Master Equipment List, Maintenance, Procurement, Upgrading of Replacement Equipnent, Quality Assurance and Employee Training.
- 3. Adequacy of equipment qualification files, including responses to relevant NRC Information Notices and Bulletins.
- 4. Installation and maintenance of selected plant EQ equipment.
A management entrance r:eeting is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on December 8,1986 at the plant site. A plant walkdown inspection of selected EQ equipment is scheduled for December 10, 1986 and an NRC exit meeting is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on December 12, 1986. To facilitate NRC preparation for this inspection, Ms. Johnson of your staff has been requested to submit the following Quad Cities EQ documents no later than November 24, 1986.
