A. Dunlop, Jr. , M. Ring, S. DuPont, F. Maura, C. Vandenburgh, M. Farber, and Ms. B. Azab of this office, and Messrs. B. Gunther and B. Shirer, of Brookhaven National Laboratory, on Septerrber 15 through October 23, 1986, of activities at the Braidwood Station, Units 1 and 2, authorized by NRC Operating License No. NPF-59 and Construction Permit No. CPPR-133 and to the discussion of our findings with Mr. M. J. Wallace at the conclusion of the inspection. The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective exam- ination of procedures and representative records, observations, and interviews with personnel. During this inspection, certain of your activities appeared to be in violation of NRC requirements, as specified in the enclosed Notice. A written response is required. Since the questions addressed in example (a) to the violation appear to be applicable to Unit 2 and Byron Station Units 1 and 2, your response should also address the corrective actions necessary for these units. In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Coninission's regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room, t , '
