liRC THI-2 CLEANUP PROJECT DIRECTORATE WEEKLY STATUS REPORT FOR NOVEL!BER 3 - 9, 1986 1.
DEFUELIfiG Approxiaately 200 lbs. cf naterial was renoved from the test pattern area following partial drilling of fuel pins. Drilling of the hard crust at the top of the remaining core naterial continued. Thus far 245 holes have been drilled in the crust out of a total of 421 planned for the current drilling evolution.
Preparation of canisters is in progress for the next shipnent of fuel to the storage facility at the Idaho National Engineerir.g

EilVIRONMEt TAL !!OilITORING US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) sanple analysis results show that THI site liquid effluents are in eccordance with regulatory limits, fiRC requirenents, and The City of Lancaster Agreement.
The Lancaster water sanple taken at the water works river intake and analy::cd by EPA consisted of a seven day ccaposite sample taken October 19 - 25, 1986. A gama scan detected no reactor related activity.
THI wate' scaples taken by EPA at the plant discharge (includes Uni te, 1 and 2) to the river consisted of seven daily ccaposite sanples taken froa Octcber 18 - 29, 1986. A ganna scan detected no reactor related activity.
The EPA analyses of the HRC cutdoor air sanple for the period October 31 - November 6, 1986 showed that concentrations of Cs-137 end I-131 were below the lower limit of quantitative detection (LLD) for the systen. The LLD varies areund a value of IE-13 uCi/cc.
