Dear Dr. Grace:
By letter dated December 23, 1985, the NRC staff transmitted to Duke Power the results of an Emergency Response Facility Appraisal (50-369/85-29, 50-370/85-28) which was conducted at McGuire in September.
One area the staff was particularly interested in was Duke's plan for reconfiguration of the Technical Support Center (TSC) (Open Item 1, Appraisal Items 1-4).
Duke is initiating an evaluation of the potential for reconfiguration of existing TSC facilities, as well as an evaluation cf the feasibility of expansion of TSC facilities into adjacent office space.
This evaluation will consider necessary modifications to ventilating systems, physical layouts, equipment procurement, etc., and will determine the schedule for any changes.
