Dear Mr. Hind:
This is in response to your letter of February 10, 1983 regarding a sworn allegation regarding employees at the Duane Arnold Energy Centor.
My staf f have determined that the persons are no longer employed by le:.
Dr. Tuthill has informed you by telephone of their tenure (s) with us and other data that was deemed useful to you.
You are welcome to examine our security files concerning these people.
Please make any inquiries through Dr. Tuthill whom I have placed in charge of this in-vestigation and others of this kind that may eventuate.
The investigation +
determine possible lapses in the security of operations and of personnel during the tenure of the persons mentioned in your letter is going on.
Deter-mination of the facts of the allegation insofar as they can be determined and a re-examination of Allied Nuclear's security clearance system then and now is also in progress.
I expect this phase of investigation to require some time as some of our people will have to travel to California for this work.
The final phase of the treatment of this matter will be an evaluation of the information obtained in the above in-vestigation and the identification of root causes and long-term corrective actions.
I will review Dr. Tuthill's report and forward it as soon as it is available.
I want to share my doubt that this can be accomplished adequately before the March 12, 1983 deadline.
I will keep you informed of our progress.
