This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Dr. R. B. Holtzman of

this office and Mr. H. Zibulsky of the Region I Office on March 23-27, 1987, of
activities at Braidwood Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1 and 2, authorized
by NRC 0)erating license No. NPF-59 and NRC Construction Permit No. CPPR-133,

and to tie discussion of our findings with Mr. L. E. Davis and others of your
staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
Subsequently, telephone conversations
were held with Mr. C. W. Schroeder and others of his staff on April 1,ith
7 and
15, 1987, and a management meeting was held at the Region III Office w
Mr. L. O. DelGeorge and others of his staff on April 3, 1987.
The enclosed copy of our inspection re) ort identifies areas examined during
the inspection. Within these areas, t1e inspection consisted of a selective
examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and

interviews with personnel.

No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this
inspection.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy
of this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the
NRC Public Document Room.
