Dear Mr. Gagliardo:
Omaha Public Power District provides in this letter a status of commitments made in Reference 3. This letter is a follow-up to a telephone conversation between Blaine Murray, NRC, and James Fisicaro and Gary Roach, OPPD. In Reference 3, OPPD committed to assuring completion of calibration design and procedure revision for RM-063L, M, H by March 14, 1986. This was accomplished. OPPD also committed to and completed procurement of high range radiation sources and performance of monitor calibration by May 15, 1986. Detectors RM-063L and RM-063M successfully passed acceptance criteria and were placed into service by May 15, 1986. RM-063H detector did not pass the procedure acceptance criterion in which the detector sensitivity factors as determined on two or more separate trials were required to agree within plus or minus 25% of the mean sensitivity. It is believed that a technical problem related to repeatable sample dilution has been resolved procedurally. It is necessary to procure additional Xenon 133 standard calibration gas as the calibration process renders the gas unsuit-able for reuse. The curie magnitude of Xenon 133 gas needed for calibration is 0609030359 860028 PDR ADOCK ODOOO2GS j O PDR ~ ~~m..mgg, ocom,e",m, .,s s e

As soon as the necessary quantity of gas is procured, the calibration of RM-063H will be performed again. Calibration is expected to be performed by October J, 1986.
