Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No. 1 Docket No. 50-334, License No. DPR-66 Proposed Operating License Change Request No. 130 Gentlemen:
Enclosed are:
1.
Three (3) originals and thirty-seven (37) copies of an Application for Amendment to our operating license to revise the containment isolation valves listed for Table 3.6-1 penetrations 87 and 88 to support the valve configuration modification for the hydrogen recombiner discharge piping.
A marked up copy of UFSAR Figure 6.5-1 is attached for your information to identify the valving modifications.
Following installation of the new valving configuration, the hydrogen recorabiner piping has been leak tested to 65 psig with no measurable leakage found.
A flow test has been performed in the hydrogen recombiner piping to ensure the new hydrogen recombiner configuration performs as required.
The new containment isolation ball valves (HY-196, HY-197) have been Type C
leak tested with no measurable leakage found.
Hydrogen recombiner flow testing was performed with the new ball valves installed, the containment pressure was held at a pressure less than 13 psia and it was demonstrated that the system satisfactorily provided flows in excess of the minimum required 50 scfm with approximately 10% margin.
These changes have been reviewed by the OSC and ORC and determined to be safe and do not involve an unreviewed safety question.
2.
Forty (40) copies of documents designated Attachments A and B
which set forth the change in technical specifications and its no significant hazards determination.
