Docket Nos. 50-361 and 50-362 Follow-up Report, Inoperable Fire Doors - July 1986 San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Units 2 and 3
Reference:
Letter, H. E. Morgan (SCE) to J. B. Martin (NRC),
dated July 14, 1986 In accordance with our referenced letter, this submittal provides the follow-up report of-fire-rated assemblies (spacifically fire doors) found inoperable during routine surveillances in July 1986.
Fire doors found inoperat-'.e during the July routine surveillances are identified in the Attachrtents and include: 13 latching mechanism failures, 7 closure mechanism failures, and 1 door blocked open typically for construction and maintenance activities. As each of these deficiencies was identified, compensatory fire watches, pursuant to Technical Specification 3.7.9, Action Statement 'a', were established.
Door mechanism failures are being corrected on an "as found" basis.
The responsible party was not identified for the 1 door found blocked open.
