Subject:

LaSalle County Station Units 1 and 2 Proposed Technical Specification Amendment to Move MSIV Isolation Signal to Level 1 NRC Docket Nos. 50-373 and 50-374 Reference (a): Letter dated October 21, 1986 from C.M. Allen to H.R. Denton.

Dear Mr. Denton:

Reference (a) transmitted Commonwealth Edison's proposal for a Technical Specification change to move the setpoint for Main Steam Line Isolation Valve (MSIV) closure from Level II to Level I. That transmittal did not quantify the change in Peak Clad Temperature. Attached is a General Electric evaluation of a LOCA analysis with the MSIV setpoint changed to Level

1. The conclusions reached in the evaluation are also considered valid for Unit 1.

Please direct any questions you may have regarding this matter to this office.

Very truly yours, L^
