The NRC has received an allegation in which it was stated that a named contractor employee was using drugs, including cocaine. The allegation was in three parts:

(1) cocaine was used; (2) the individual had been selected for drug testing but avoided giving a sample; and (3) the individual's supervisor did rot take any action when the indi~vidual missed his drug screening test.

This information is forwarded to Illinois Power Company for review and followup.

If you determine that illicit drug use occurred, we are interested in the effect the c' rug use may have had on the individual's ability to perform safety related work and how that work was verified correct.

'We request that the results of your review and disposition of this matter be submitted to Region III after completion.

Documentation supporting your results should be maintained onsite for audit by Region III.

The enclosure to this letter centains the identity of the individual who is alleged to have had drug involvement. The enclosure is therefore considered exempt from disclosure according to Section 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, and will not be placed in the NRC Public Document Room. Therefore the results of your review and the disposition of this matter should provide an equivalent degree of prote,ction to the privacy of identified individual (s).
