Gentlemen:

This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. J. 8. Baird and a team of

inspectors during the period June 24-28, 1986, of activities authorized by NRC

Operating License DPR-40 for the Fort Calhoun Station, and to the discussion of

our findings with you and other members of your staff at the conclusion of the

inspection.

Areas examined during the inspection included implementation of the emergency

preparedness plan and procedures during the annual emergency response exercise.

Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examination of

procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and

observations by the inspectors. The inspection findings are documented in the

enclosed inspection report.

The enclosed report identified five deficiencies in your emergency preparedness

program. It is requested that you provide this office with a schedule for

. correcting these deficiencies within 30 days after receipt of this letter.

Within the scope ^of the inspection, no violations or deviations were

identified.

We have also examined actions you have taken with regard to previously

identifiedJinspection findings. The status of these items is identified in

paragraph 2 of the enclosed report.
