OPPD Response to Recent NRC SALP on Fort Calhoun Station Gentlemen:
OPPD has carefully reviewed the most recent SALP Report on Fort Calhoun Station. Although we do not desire any formal meeting, we did appreciate the opportunity to discuss this SALP Report with our NRC Senior Resident Inspector, Mr. Phil Harrell.
In the Security and Safeguards area, OPPD plans aggressive action to improve our performance.
Organizational, personnel, and hardware changes are planned and are detailed in a Safeguards Attachment to our January 17, 1987, response to an NRC Notice of Violation and Proposed Imposition of Civil Penalty relative to our security program.
OPPD has also indicated its desire to improve our performance in areas not directly related to plant availability (referenced January 9,1987 letter from B. W. Reznicek to Chairman, Lando Zech, Jr.).
In summary, we do feel the recent SALP Report was a fair assessment and we are committed to improving our performance, especially in the security and safeguards area of our operation.
