This is tc document the February 25, 1987, meeting between representatives of' the Corrmonwcalth Edison Corrpany and the NRC in the Region III office. The
- urpose of this meeting was to discuss the results of examinations administered ay the lict.nsee during the week of January 26, 1987, to operators in the Byron requalification program. Attachment 1 is a list of meeting attendees.
Although five of the nine operators failed the simulator examination, detailed analysis did not identify generic weaknesses indicative of programatic concerns rec,uiring significant changes to the rec,ualification program.
It is our understanding that corrective actions for the identified weaknesses in the simulator training and examination processes are being implernented.
It is also our understanding that the individuals who failed the simulator examination have been or will be retrained and re-evaluated in accordance with the existing program requirements.
We believe this meeting was beneficial in achieving a n.utual understanding cf the examination results.
