LaSalle County Station Unit 1 proposed Amendments to Technical Specification for Facility Operating License NPF Diesel Generator Lube Oil Modification Additional Information NRC Docket Nos. 50-373 Reference (a): October 14, 1986 letter from C. M. Allen to H. R. Denton transmitting request for Technical Specification Amendment.

Dear Mr. Denton:

The following comunitenents have been made to the NRC concerning the propoted Technical Specification amendment to allow Unit 1 operation for a period of 30 days during the installation of the pre-lube modification on the Unit 2 Division 2 (2A) Diesel Generator. These comunitments were made to members of your staff in telecons held on November 17 and December 3, 1986.

1.

The Unit I and the Unit 2 System Auxiliary Transformers (SAT) will be maintained in a operable condition at all times during the period of tiene that the 2A diesel Generator is inoperable for the purposes of completing the pre-lube modification. With one SAT inoperable, Unit I will comumence an inunediate shutdown and will be in hot shutdown within twelve (12) hours and in cold shutdown within the subsequent twenty-four (24) hour period.

2.

During the period of time that the 2A Diesel Generator is inoper-able for the purposes of completing the pre-lube modification, the loading of the Unit 2 Division 2 Class 1E bus (242Y) will be restricted such that overloading of the Unit 1 Division 2 (1A)

Diesel Generator will not occur when crosstying the 242Y bus and the Unit 1 Division 2 class 1E bus (142Y).

3.

During the period of time that the 2A Diesel Generator is inoperable for the purpose of completing the pre-lube modification, the Unit 1 Divisions 1 and 2 Diesel Generators (0 and 1A) will be maintained operable. With either the 0 or the 1A Diesel Generator inoperable, Unit I will comumence an inanediate shutdown and will be in hot shutdown within twelve (12) hours and in cold shutdown within the subsequont twenty-four (24) hour period.

With the Unit 1 Division 3 Diesel Generator (IB) inoperable, the requirements of Technical Specification 3.8.1.1 action statement e will be met.

During the period of time that.the 2A Diesel Generator is inoper-able for the purposes of completing the pre-lube modification, the Unit 2 Unit Auxiliary Transformer (UAT) will be maintained operable and available as a third source of power for bus 242Y.
