SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT (SER) REGARDING THE PRESGURIZED THERMAL SHOCK ASSESSMENT FOR THE j BEAVER VALLEY UNIT 2 REACTOR VESSEL Licensee: Duquesne Light Company TAC No.: M98088 Review Status: Complete By letter dated February 13,1997, the Duquesne Light Company submitted WCAP-14784, Revision 2, " Evaluation of Pressurized Thermal Shock for Beaver Valley Unit 2," which provided the revised Beaver Va' ley Unit 2 (FN-2) 10 CFR 50.61 pressurized thermal shock assessment regarding the reactor vecselinWsrity. This revision was provided in response to item 3 of the NRC request for additional information issued October 18,1996, concerning WCAP-14484,

" Analysis of Capsule V for the Duquesne Light Company Beaver Valley Unit 2 Reactor Vessel Radiation Surveillance Program."

, The Materials and Chemical Engineering Branch of the Division of Engineering has completed-its review of the licensee's submittal. In our safety evaluation, which is attached, we have concluded that the BV-2 reactor vessel is projected to be below the PTS screening criteria at the expiration of its license.

Attachment 1 is the Materials and Chemical Engineering review of the licensee's PTS assessment for BV-2. Attachment 2 is the SALP input. This completes EMCB's review efforts for TAC No. M98088.
