SUBJECT:
ECCS EVALUATION MODEL MODIFICATIONS RELATED TO AXIAL POWER SHAPE ISSUE, PHASE I We have reviewed your September 15 and November 10, 19E6 submittals in support of Paine Yankee operation during Cycle 10. The purpose of these submittals was to describe modifications to the Maine Yankee ECCS large break evaluation model. The modifications addressed in this Safety Evaluation are designated
" Phase I" and are applicable to the proposed ECCS analysis scheduled for sub-mittal in support of operation during the first half of Cycle 10.
Further
. modifications will be submitted at a later date (Phase II) which will be applicable to a LOCA reanalysis for the balance of Cycle 10.
Based on the enclosed safety evaluation, we find that the proposed modifications are acceptable and in compliance with Appendix K to 10 CFR Part 50.
This completes Phase I of our effort.
