ATTACHMENT SAFETY PARAMETER DISPLAY SYSTEM PROGRESS REPORT - 4TH QUARTER 1986 i
A.
SPDS Progress 1.
A Major project milestone was reached on November 25 with successful completion of the plant computer factory acceptance test on an increased capacity computer.
The anticipated increases in performance for this computer were realized and sof tware migration from our original computer to this one was successful.
2.
More personnel were added to SPDS development:
The vendor increased his team of personnel dedicated to SPDS.
The vendor hired a consultant for additional assistance.
One programmer from BG&E was added to the team.
3.
In November, BG&E personnel from engineering and operations visited the venJor to review SPDS logic, displays, and the man machine interface.
Progress shown by the vendor was acceptable.
B.
Status of Sof tware Development and Testing 1.
Code was written for all Critical Safety Functions (CSFs) and the vendor has developed 150 test cases.
2.
Internal vendor tests are expected to start January 1,1987 and run for three weeks. Following a week of repairs, the SDDS factory acceptance test is expected to start by the end of January.
3.
Additionally, work was begun by BG&E on development of integrated accident based test scenarios.
C.
Critical Path Item Computer capacity has been identified as the cr.itical path item. This is despite anticipated gains in performance achieved by obtaining a more powerful machine. Demonstration of adequate capacity cannot be completed until system sof tware, SPDS software, and the communications interface to the Data Acquisition System are integrated onsite at Calvert Cliffs. This demonstration is expected by February 1,
1987.
Risk in this area is being mir *mized by development of contingency plans to further increase capacity beyond the current configuration.
