REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION CONCERNING RESPONSES TO GENERIC IMPLICATIONS OF SALEM ATWS EVENTS (GENERIC LETTER 83-28)

Re:

Haddam Neck Plant By letters dated November 8, 1983, March 16, 1984 and March 9, 1985, Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company (CYAPCO) provided information concerning Generic Letter 83-28. The staff has performed its review of Items 2.1.2 and 2.2.1 of Generic Letter 83-28 and concluded that additional information is necessary for us to complete our review. A request for ad-ditional information is enclosed.

In order to preserve our present review schedule, the staff requests that the supplementary information for Items 2.1.2 and 2.2.1 be submitted within 30 days of receipt of this letter. Should you not be able to conform with this request, your licensing department should contact me at (301)492-4790.

The reporting and/or recordkeeping requirements contained in this letter affect fewer than ten respondents; therefore, OMB clearance is not required under P.L.96-511.

i 1.0 Item 2.1.2 The licensee's submittal does not state that the reactor trip system is included in the vendor interface program. The licensee should provide written confirmation that their reactor trip system is in-cluded in the Westinghouse vendor interface program.

2.0 Item 2.2.1 The licensee's response does not confirm that the information handline system consists of a single, concise, unambiguous listing of all safety-related components and parts.

3.0 Item 2.2.1.2 The licensee's response has not confirmed that the new computerized in-formation handling system includes a list of safety-related equipment and that procedures exist which govern its development and validation.
