Dear Mr. Denton:

In response to the SER dated August 8,1986 concerning TDI Diesel Generators Georgia Power Company (GPC) has provided various commitments in the referenced letters. GPC hereby reports the status of those commitments as follows:

1.

The baseline ultrasonic eloogation measurements of the connecting rod bolts above the crankpin will be performed after completion of the ESEAS test but prior to fuel load. The ESFAS test is scheduled for completion by December 18, 1986.

2.

The torsiograph test is complete and the results were scheduled to be submitted to GPC by the Owners Group on December 10, 1986. The results will be evaluated for acceptability by December 19, 1986.

3.

The turbocharger thrust bearing will be inspected for signs of excessive wear after completion of the ESFAS test but prior to fuel load.

4.

The liquid penetrant test will be performed on the turbocharger stationary nozzle ring after completion of the ESFAS test but prior to fuel load.

5.

The follower lobe on the starting air distributor has been installed on train B.

It will be installed on train A af ter completion of the ESPAS test but prior to fuel load.

6.

The starting air distributor cam lobes and valve spools have been evaluated for wear on train B.

Evaluation will be performed on train A af ter completion of the ESFAS test but prior to fuel load.

The as-installed condition of the mounting hardware for the fuel oil filters and strainers will be, visually inspected after completion of the ESFAS test but prior to fuel load.

8.

Procedures for inspection of the capscrews which hold the waterjacket to the exhaust manifold assembly support following an SSE will be complete,

approved and incorporated into the maintenance and surveillance program by December 19, 1986.

9.

Procedures for venting t'ae governor lube oil system will be complete and approved by December 19, 1986.

A complete response to the SER was provided in the referenced letters. With this additional information Georgia Power Company considers this confirmatory issue to be complete. However, GPC will provide a final confirmation on completion of these commitments by fuel load.
