AMENDED RESPONSE TO NOTICE OF VIOLATION NO. 1, ITEM D. (315/85007-04D, 316/85007-04D)

Dear Mr. Keppler:
The purpose of this letter is to amend our response to the Notice of Violation No. 1, Item id. (315/85007-04D, 316/85007-04D) as was contained in.our letter dated June 14, 1985 (AEP:NRC:0935).
With the implementation, on October 13, 1986, of the new corrective action program for the Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant and American Electric Power Service Corporation, the tracking of nuclear safety-significant corrective actions has been removed from our existing Action Item Tracking (AIT) system. Those nuclear safety significant corrective actions identified after October 13, 1986 will now be tracked to closeout via the new tracking and trending system associated with the new corrective action program. As a result, our AIT system will only be used as a tracking mechanism for items that do not represent significant conditions adverse to nuclear safety.
In addition, the AEPSC Vice Chairman's memorandum regarding the AIT system referenced in our original response has been withdrawn and the procedure controlling the AIT system has been redesignated as an Administrative Procedure.
This document has been prepared following Corporate procedures which incorporate a reasonable set of controls to insure its accuracy and completeness prior to signature by the undersigned.
