We take this opportunity to thank you for your cooperation in sending a large quantity of replaced recirculation piping from your Vermont Yankee Plant to our contractor, Brookinven National Laboratory to be used as samples in our program of evaluating pipe cracks in operating BWRs. The major effort of our pipe crack evaluation program 4 to survey the extent of cracking in the piping materials, and to compare the cracking found with that originally reported during the in-plant examinations. So far, we have received piping materials of various shapes and sizes from Brunswick 2, Peach Bottom 2 and Vermont Yankee. We also expect to receive safe-end materials from Duane Arnold and Browns Ferry 2.
By discussion with your staff, we understand that most of the replaced recirculation piping was ultrasonically inspected and the raw UT data is available. To support the major effort of our pipe crack evaluation program, we need the UT data in order to complete the evaluation. Therefore, we would appreciate very much if you would send all pertinent UT raw data including its final evaluation / disposition to BNL at your earliest convenience. The BNL contact person is:
