d ANNUAL OPERATING REPORT Idaho State University AGN-201 Nuclear Reactor Pocatello, ID 83209

1) Brief Narrative of Changes There have been no changes in facility design, performance characte.ristics or operating procedures relating to reactor safety during the calendar year, 1985.

a) A visual inspection of the control rod drive mechanisms was satisfactory.

b) Scram drop times of all control rods were less than 100 milliseconds.

c) Rod run-up times were measured and average reactivity insertion rates calculated. The maximum average reac-tivity insertion rate was 0.040% per second for the safety rod No. 2.

d) Channel tests of all safety channels and interlocks have been tested and found satisfactory.

l l e) Power and period calibrations were performed and no sig-nificant changes from the previous calibration were found.

f) The shield tank was inspected. No water leaks or exces-sive corrosion was apparent, g) Shutdown margin was measured and found to be 2.37%

reactivity.

2) Monthly Tabulation of Reactor Operating Hours for 1985:

Month Hours Month Hours January 1.95 July 2.72 February 1.85 August March 2.02 September 3.87 April 6.18 October 16.22 May 2.57 November 5.10 June 3.73 December 3) List of Unscheduled Shutdowns: None.

4) Discussion of Major Safety Related Corrective Maintenance June 19, 1985 - Removed fixed area radiation monitor and replaced it with a Ludum Model #300 setpoints set and tested.

September 5, 1985 - Replaced High Voltage Power Supply on Channels No. 1 & 2 with Pacific, Inc. Model 2K-10 exceed specification and have proven to be very reliable. The sup-ply voltage was set at +400 and the shutdown safetys were tested.

September 24, 1985 - The " calibrate" circuit for Channel #1 was rebuilt and tested satisfactory.

, 5) Changes to the Facility a) There have been no changes to the facility as described in the application for license.

b) There have been no changes to the procedures as

described in the facility Technical Specifications, c) No new experiments were performed with the AGN-201 reac-tor during the calendar year 1984-85.
6) Summary of Safety Evaluations There were no new changes, tests, or experiments approved or performed during this reporting period.
7) Summary of Radioactive Effluents Released or Discharged to the Environment.

There were no Radioactive Effluents discharged during 1985.

l 8) Summary of Radiological Surveys Outside the Facility.

No environmental surveys have been performed outside the

facility.
9) Radiation Exposure
No person received greater than 50 millirem during this 3 reporting period.
