Subject:

Final 10CFR50.55(e): HVAC Design (CDR 85-00-07)

Dear Sir:

In Reference (b), we reported a 10CFR50.55(e) regarding a HVAC design deficiency. As indicated in Reference (c), the HVAC design deficiency had been identified while performing a normal reverifi-cation of Environmental Qualification input parameters. As a result, changes in HVAC design were required so that the operational environment would not be more severe than that used in the test and qualification of safety-related systems and components.

The following corrective actions [ reference (c)] necessary to maintain systems and components in the specific environments have been completed:

Areas Affected:

1. Equipment vault stariways and electrical area above - Added 15 ton chiller unit which supplies one air conditioner in each of the three areas.
2. Control Building Train A Switchgear Room and Train B Tunnel -

Increase once-through ventilation air flow by modifications to existing fans.
