Gentlemen:
Subject:
Radiation Protection Managers' Conference The Nuclear Regulatory Commission, keylon I, is planning a conference for power plant Radiation Protection Managers and their deputies.
The conference is currently scheduled for March 10-11, 1987 at King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
The purpose of the conference is to exchange information between NRC and Licensee staffs on issues relating to radiological controls programs. We intend to make presentations on NRC requirements and expectations for radiation protection programs, problems and concerns frequently identifed during inspec-tions, the purpose and process for inspections, enforcement and SALP, and recent inspection initiatives launched in Region I.
We also plan to hold discussions on technical issues with significant relevance to radiological safety, to include Beta dosimetry, radio interference with TLD readers, undervessel reactor cavity entries and personnel overexposures, etc.
The format of the conference is anticipated to be a series of brief presenta-tions by NRC and utility representatives, followed by informal discussion sessions. We encourage licensee staffs' participation, presentations and frank discussions during the conference and look forward to meeting with these technical professionals for which we hold a great deal of respect.
We are inviting you to send your Radiation Protection Manager (Radiological Controls Manager) and his deputy or other person in a similar capacity to our conference. To facilitate planning we would like you to inform us of the names of your staff members who plan to attend, comments on the topics suggested above, and any other topics you would like to place on the agenda, as well as the titles and brief summaries of any presentations which your staff would like to give during the conference. This information is requested no later than January 31, 1987.
