Dr. J. Nelson Grace SPR 86-008 June 6, 1986 ENCLOSURE 1 EVENT DESCRIPTION On May 25, 1986, RMG-19C, the Noble Gas Effluent Monitor on Main Steam Line "C", was declared inoperable due to spiking above the high radiation setpoint with no detectable radiation present.

ACTION TAKEN The channel was not returned to an operable status in 72 hours8.333333e-4 days
0.02 hours
1.190476e-4 weeks
2.7396e-5 months
; therefore, the preplanned alternate method of monitoring was implemented.

The cause of the inoperability was determined to be an adjustment problem in the timing circuit of the auxiliary circuit board. The necessary adjustments were made and the channel was returned to service on June 6, 1986.
