Dear Mr. Denton:
This letter is to clarify the intent of the May 5, 1986 Surveillance extension request and the May 9, 1986 letter requesting an exemption from certain requirements of 10 CFR 50, Appendix J.
The scope of the surveillance extension request is not increased by this clarification.
My May 5, 1986 letter requested an extension to several Technical Specification Surveillance Time Requirements. A proposed Table 3.6-la was provided with the extension request for Surveillance 4.6.1.2d.
Penetrations identified on this Table included Electrical penetrations for various equipment, numbered E101-450. These 91 penetrations are all of the electrical penetrations for t'
Unit 1 that are subject to Type B testing. Additionally, the remaining mechanical penetrations identified are also subject to Type B testing. The j
valves associated with these penetrations are subject to Type C testing. Each test requires approximately 4 to 6 manhours of work inside containment in I
radiation areas on the order of 300 to 3000 mrea/hr. Attached is a listing of the affected valves and their corresponding penetration numbers.
