J. H. Goldberg, Group Vice President, Nuclear P. O. Box 1700 Houston, Texas 77001
Dear Mr. Goldberg:
This is to document the meeting and tour of the South Texas Project, Unit 1 on January 6,1987. A list of attendees and a handout that describes the general topics of discussion are attached.
During that visit, we discussed the status of the South Texas Project and your schedule for completion of the facility. We also discussed progress on the resolution of licensing open items, operational readiness, and your quality programs including SAFETEAM.
On January 7,1987, Messrs. Stello and Martin met with the Board of Directors for Houston Industries and discussed matters of mutual interest.
No new connitments were made or agreements reached.
It is our opinion that this visit was beneficial and has provided for a better understanding of your progress towards operational readiness.
In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2 Title 10, Code Of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.
Sincerely.
