Subject:

Braidwood Station Units 1 and 2 Safety Parameter Display System NRC Docket Nos. 50-456 and 50-457 Reference (a):

October 30, 1985 letter from B.J. Youngblood to D.L.

Dear Mr. Denton:

Reference (a) provided an audit report regarding the Byron Safety Parameter Display System (SPDS).

The design of the Byron SPDS is identical to the Braidwood SPDS.

One of the human engineering deficiencies identified during'the Byron audit involved the labeling of the wide and narrow range displays for the SPDS.

To correct this deficiency, a title will be provided on the iconic displays to indicate wide range or narrow range.

This revision to the displays will be completed prior to startup following the first refueling outage for Braidwood Unit 1.

Another item discussed in reference (a) involved the verification and validation review for the SPDS.

A report of this effort for the Braidwood SPDS will be submitted to the NRC prior to startup following the first refueling outage for Braidwood Unit 1.

Please direct any questions regarding this matter to this office.

One signed original and fifteen copies of this letter are provided for NRC review.

Very truly yours, t'
