Electrical Separation Criteria
Dear Sir:
In discussions with our Bethesda and Site of fices today, members of your Staff requested additional information/ clarification concerning our Electrical Separation Criteria and commitments to R.G.1.75.
As noted in Reference (b), Seabrook has committed to meeting the requirements of FSAR Appendix 8A, IEEE Standard 384-1974, and Regulatory Guide 1.75, Revision 2 for electrical cable and raceway separation. These documents provide two options to establish criteria; use standard criteria given in these documents or provide an analysis based on a test program to justif y criteria less than standard criteria.
Seabrook utilizes both options.
Seabrook Station's Electrical Separation Criteria is in conformance with the guidelines of R.G.1.75 la showing that there exists proper ele ct rical. and physical separatior. between safety-related and nonsafety-related electrical equipment.
Furthermore, our commitments to R.G.
1.75 assures that failure of nonsafety-related electrical equipment under postulated conditions will not prevent safety-related equipment from satisfactorily accomplishing its safety functions.
We do request that the acceptability of Seabrook's separation criteria and clarifications be reflected in the next supplement to Seabrook's SER.
Ver truly yours, m)
