Transmittal of Draft Safety Evaluation on Electrical Design Calculations Enclosed is a draft copy of the staff evaluation on six of the nine areas of electrical design calculations presently under review by the staff. The staff intends to incorporate this evaluation into the Safety Evaluation Report (SER) on Volume 2 of the Nuclear Perfonnance Plan. The purpose of this letter is to transmit the report to the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for its information.
The electrical design areas that are addressed in the enclosure are:
1.
Auxiliary power system load analysis 2.
Auxiliary power system voltage calculations 3.
Auxiliary power system MCC control circuit cable length calculation 4.
Auxiliary power system diesel generator load analysis 5.
Control power system 125V de voltage calculations.
6.
Control power system 120V ac voltage calculations.
Based on its review of these six electrical calculations identified above, the staff finds that the documentation for these calculations is adequate and that they provide a reasonable degree of confidence for Sequoyah restart.
As part of TVA's assessment of electrical calculations, Sargent & Lundy (S&L) was contracted to perform an independent assessment of the referenced electrical cal-culations. Subsequent to S&L's review and TVA's reassessment, TVA decided that additional review and documentation of the following three electrical calculations j
areas which are part of the original nine was still needed:
l 1.
Instrumentation and Control System (I&CS) instrumentation accuracy calculations.
2.
Raceway Systems (RS) use of TVA's amoacity tables.

Raceway Systems (RS) verification of TVA's ampacity tables in cable trays, conduits and duct banks.
Although TVA has provided information in the above three areas, it intends to revise its submittal in the ampacity areas. The staff review of this effort is presently underway and will be completed after the revised ampacity documentation is provided and before restart of Sequoyah. When the review of this work is complete, a supplemental evaluation addressing the above three electrical calculations will be provided.
