Routine Inspection 50-245/86-07; 50-336/86-07 (4/8/86 - 5/19/86)
This refers to the bove subject resident inspection of Millstone Units 1 and
2.
The inspection findings have been discussed with Mr. Romberg of your
staff. No violations were identified and no reply to this letter is required.
This inspection included follow-up on a diver in the spent fuel pool coming
closer than is allowed to spent fuel assemblies. Although no overexposure
resulted, your staff and our inspectors noted a need to improve controls over
divers in the spent fuel pool.
Since then, we have noted improved control
over divers. We are nonetheless highlighting this item to you because of the
radiological conseq*uences that could result from a significant breakdown in
diver control.
We also wish to acknowledge your April 11, 1986 reply to Combined Inspection
'
Report 50-245/85-22; 50-336/85-27. That reply noted that Report Section 4
incorrectly identified transmission line No. 371 as No. 348.
