Dear Mr. Randolph:
By letters dated October 30, 1996, and January 28. 1997. Union Electric (UE) submitted its 30 day and 120 day responses to GL 96 06, in order to review UE's actions with respect to the two phase flow and waterhammer issues discussed in GL 96 06 for the Callaway plant, the NRC staff requires additional information. Our request for additional information (RAl) is included as an enclosure to this letter.
Please provide your response to the staff's RAI within 60 days of the date of this letter in order to support the staff's review schedule, if you have any questions regarding the content of this RAI, please contact me at (301) 415-3456.

UNIT 1 The NRC staff requests that Union Electric submit the following information pertaining to the two phase flow and waterhammer issues discussed in GL 96 06 for the Callaway plant:

A complete description of the waterhammer and two phase flow analysis that provides enough detailed information about the analysis methodologies and assumptions that were used to allow the staff to complete an independent assessment of the analysis:

Documentation for the actual analyses that were performed, along with any background and other supporting information that is necessary for the staff to complete an independent assessment of the analysis: and 3.
A copy of the most recent P&lDs (piping and instrumentation diagrams) for the system in question and the associated piping elevation diagrams.
