1.0 GENERAL 1.1 This Specification requires the furnishing and delivery of diesel generators in accordance with the performance, design, and

, construction requirements specified herein.

Seller '

shall provide a portable service platform to facilitate maintenance l on the upper levels of the engine. The Seller shall furnish anchoring devices to anchor the portable platforms to wall embeds furnished by the Buyer.

2.3 The diesel generator sets will be skid mounted on a concrete foundation. All diesel auxiliaries, excluding control panels, exhaust silencer, and intake silencer, shall be mounted on a minimum number of skids by Seller, for each diesel. The jacket water expan-sion tank and the lube oil auxiliary tank shall be designed for wall mounting. The intercooler heat exchanger shall be designed for mount-ing directly on the concrete foundation with all interconnecting piping supplied by the Seller. The exhaust silencer shall be designed for mounting directly to the diesel building structural steel.

5.0 RATINGS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE 5.1- The equipment will be installed indoors and'will be exposed to the following environmental conditions:

-[~ 5.2 The guaranteed performance of the diesel generators shall be based on the operating conditions indicated in Section 6.0 of this Specification. The overspeed trip set-point shall be determined by the manufacturer in accordance with Regulatory '

Guide 1.9. -

5 The design life of each unit shall be 40 years. A high degree of performance reliability is of primary importance. The diesel generator system components including instruments and controls shall be designed to withstand 20 F temperature transients above the maximum ambient room temperature of 122 F for 6 hours6.944444e-5 days <br />0.00167 hours <br />9.920635e-6 weeks <br />2.283e-6 months <br /> a day for a week once in the life of the unit.

5.3 The diesel generators shall operate without excessive vibra-tion or other such evidence of poor performance at any engine-speed within a range from the rated overspeed trip set-point to 10 percent below the rated synchronous speed.

E.4 As a minimum, the generator shall be designed to' withstand an overspeed of 25 percent without damage.

5.5 The diesel generators will be used intermittently as the source of emergency ac power supply and will normally be on standby condition except for periodic operation, as follows:

5.6 Each diesel engine generator set shall have an IEEE con-i tinuous rated output of at least 6201 kW, 0.8 pf, 3 phase, 60 Hz,

4160 V, with an availability equal to or greater than 95 percent.
