Neutron Source Recycling Program Update This message provides information to supplement that provided in a memorandum from Roy Canlano to Donald Cool dated March 21,1997, With regard to the Am/Be source list supplied by The Ohio State University, the following clarifying and additional information is provided:
All eight sources, including r.ource # 6, are manufactured by either Troxler or C' N Corp. Consequently, these
/
sources can be retumed to the respective manufacturer for disposal and are not candidates for the DOE recycling program. However, one additional Am/Be source not on the list is a potential candidate. This source is as follows:
Monsanto Research Corp 500 mci Am/Be (as of 1967)
MRC AmBe $19 The Monsanto manufactured source is not leaking, and located in safe storage within the Ikentee's waste storage building Therefore, the source does not pose a radiological harard at this time and consequently should not be placed high on the DOE disposal priority list, t
