Dear Mr. Tiernan:
We have completed our evaluation of Items 3.1.3 and 3.2.3, " Post-Maintenance Testing of RTS Components and All Other Safety Related Components" of Generic Letter (GL) 83-28, " Required Actions Based on Generic Implications of Salem ATWS Events." A; indicated in the enclosed Safety Evaluation, there are no post-maintenance testing requirements in the Calvert Cliffs Technical Specifications for either the reactor trip system or other safety-related components which degrade safety.
Accordingly, our review of Items 3.1.3 and 3.2.3 of GL 83-28 is complete.
I have also enclosed a copy of the report from our consultant, EG&G Idaho, Inc., regarding Items 3.1.3 and 3.2.3, for your use.
Section 5 of the report presents the specific evaluation of BG&E's response to Items 3.1.3 and 3.2.3.
